Diablo III Sequels?

Blizzard is currently developing multiple ‘sequels’ in the Diablo series, according to a SEC filing by Activision-Blizzard.

“Blizzard has released two expansion packs to World of Warcraft; World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade and World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. Blizzard is currently developing new games, including a new expansion pack to the World of Warcraft franchise, Cataclysm, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, which will be released with the new and improved Battle.net, and sequels to the Diablo franchise.”

This only confirms my thoughts on how Activision-Blizzard is one of the most money hungry gaming companies out there, We all saw how they tried to squeeze every penny out of World of Warcraft almost putting a fee on every single action, by the looks of it Activision-Blizzard will start charging $1 for every single creep you kill and $5 for every level. Jokes a side this is not good news for gamers, even though people aren’t too fussed about dishing out an extra $50 for an expansion the question remains “Should we have to?”

In the past game companies used to bring out games and bring out an expansion pack a year or two years after the game had launched, this used to excite players but now we have seen a big trend of games being shortened and the rest of the story line going into an expansion.

There is no doubt that Activision-Blizzard produce spectacular games but they constantly show us that they are a business with the soul purpose of making money. If making money was their main priority but they were deeply concerned about dishing out a game that the public would like (Not coming from a business point of view) I guarantee that we would see better games developed without it affecting our pocket so much.
